Cél

A hallgató ismerje meg a politika intézményes világát, a magyar társadalom politikai rendszerét, az egyén politikai cselekvésének, a politikai tudat és a politikai közvélemény alakulásának társadalmi törvényszerűségeit. E célok érdekében elemezzük a politikai érdekérvényesítés folyamatát, politikai hatalom és uralom viszonyrendszerét, a legitimációelméletek kérdéskörét, a magyar alkotmányos politikai rendszer struktúráját, valamint a magyar választói magatartást és pártpreferenciát meghatározó legfontosabb tényezőit.

Cél angol

This course is designed, students will understand how “democracy works”, they will be able to identify political actors in their physical and institutional manifestations, and will gain an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of different political regimes in modern societies. Students will also have the ability to describe and analyse the interaction of governments, parliaments, the judiciary, and various other actors of society (e.g., political parties, lobbies).

Tartalom

A politika, mint társadalmi alrendszer. A politika fogalmi elemei. A politika, mint társadalmi viszonyrendszer. Hatalom és legitimáció. A politikai hatalom intézményesülése: az állam és kormányzati rendszerek. Politikai rendszerek típusai: diktatúrák és demokráciák. A politikai ideológia társadalmi funkciói. A politikai érdekérvényesítés folyamata és eszközrendszere. A választói magatartás elméleti kérdései. A magyar politikai rendszer. A magyar alkotmányos politikai rendszer. A magyar törvényhozó hatalom. A magyar kormányzati és közigazgatási rendszer. A magyar politikai pártok szavazótáborának összetétele és változásai a rendszerváltás után.

Tartalom angol

The course starts with an analysis of institutions that set “the rules of the game” in the realm of legislature, executive and judiciary, i.e., the roles of constitutions, heads of states and governments, parliaments and the role of the European Union. The second part will focus on the politics of representation from the bottom up, that is, from the perspective of a citizen. The course discusses cleavage structures like class, church-state, rural-urban and the interaction of different cleavages. Furthermore, political parties, party families, their differences and similarities, and electoral systems will be covered. The third part analyze the operation of the Hungarian political system (parliament, government, political parties, electoral system.
