Cél

A társadalomtörténet tárgy célja a XX. századi magyar társadalom fontosabb kulturális – gazdasági – politikai és demográfiai folyamatainak tanulmányozása, annak megismertetése, hogy e társadalmi mechanizmusok milyen módon alakították a magyar társadalom struktúráját, társadalmi osztályok, rétegek élet- és tudati viszonyait. A szemeszter két fő részből áll, az előadások részben a polgári társadalomszerveződés folyamatával és konfliktusaival foglalkoznak, másrészt az államszocialista rendszer belső viszonyainak feltárására irányulnak. Az előadások a magyar társadalmat legújabb szakirodalom alapján, nemzetközi összehasonlításában vizsgálják.

Objectives: The objective of social history as a subject is to study the most important cultural, economic and political processes of the Hungarian society in the 20th century as well as to get acquainted with how these mechanisms formed the structure of the Hungarian society and the social classes or layers’ attitude to life and knowledge. The semester consists of two parts. The lectures partly deal with the process of the bourgeois formation of society and its conflicts and partly with the exploration of the inner relations of the state social system. The lectures observe the Hungarian society with the help of the latest specialised literature on an international scale.

Tartalom

Először az iparosodás előtti gazdaság és társadalom sajátosságait ismerhetik meg a hallgatók; a népesedés alakulását, a hagyományos társadalom jellemzőit, a rendi társadalom viszonyait, és a többnemzetiségű társadalom létrejöttét. Ez alapján ismerkednek meg a modern gazdaság és társadalom kialakulásával és főbb vonásaival. Ezek: az iparosodás és piacosodás, a modern infrastruktúra kiépítése, az urbanizáció folyamata, a világháborúk következményei. A hallgatók megismerkednek a dualizmus és a két világháború közötti korszak, majd pedig az államszocializmus és a tervgazdaság időszakának sajátos gazdasági és társadalmi viszonyaival: Népesedés, településszerkezet. Társadalomszerkezet és rétegződés. A rendies struktúra és a polgári társadalomszerveződés dualitása. Kultúra és etnicitás. Életmód és mentalitás. A magyar társadalom az államszocializmus évtizedeiben: Ideológia és hatalom. Társadalmi rétegződés az államszocializmusban. A duális társadalom reinkarnációja. A rendszerváltás előzményei.

Content: Initially the undergraduates can get acquainted with the characteristics of the economy and society before the industrialisation, the shaping of the population, the features of the traditional society, the relations of the feudal society and the formation of the multiracial society. On the basis of the above mentioned they are going to get to know the emergence of modern economy and society and its main features. These are industrialisation, market formation, the establishment of modern infrustructure, the process of urbanisation and the consequences of the world wars. The students are going to find out about the unique economic and social relations of the era during the dualism and the one between the two world wars as that of state socialism and planned economy. Growth of population, settlement structure. Social structure and stratification. Duality of feudal structure and bourgeois societal organisation. Culture and ethnicity. Lifestyle and mentality. The Hungarian society during the decades of state socialism. Ideology and power. Societal stratification in the state socialism. Reincarnation of the the dual society. The antecedents of the change of regime.
