To study the terminology of biology in English, developing language skills

Tartalom angol

Major topics in molecular and in classical biology will be discussed. Students listen to lectures in English, read and translate biological texts. Life and chemistry: large molecules. Cells: the basic units of life. Cellular membranes. Chromosomes, the cell cycle and cell division. Genetics: Mendel and beyond. DNA and its role in heredity. From DNA to protein. The eukaryotic genome and its expression. Recombinant DNA and biotechnology. Molecular biology and medicine. The history of life on Earth. The mechanism of evolution. The prokaryotic domains. Fungi. The biology of flowering plants: the plant body, reproduction and responses to environmental changes. The biology of animals: physiology, reproduction and behavior. Biogeography. Conservation biology.
